In our modern times, there is absolutely no justification for this nonsensical habit of changing our clocks twice a year. the energy we supposedly save in not burning light bulbs, we waste in fuel. The myth was that there was a savings for farmers. No way. BUT, nobody cares enough to invest any time in this so we are probably stuck with this nonsensical maneuver forever.

Since it is Sunday most people aren’t waking up for work. So if they usually get up at 8 they will be getting up at 9. If they go to bed at 11, then instead of being awake for 15 hours they will have been up for only 14 hours. Therefore they should fell more rested. What I just wrote makes as much sense as this article!

The clocks jump ahead one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday. Dr. Ronald Chervin suggests the public should start adjust their sleeping habits ahead of time. Chervin is the director of the Sleep Disorders Clinic at the University of Michigan.

“Being prepared is important, especially if you need to be alert that day for any reason, particularly driving a car,” Chervin said. “Even one hour of sleep loss can affect some people.”

Chervin recommends gradually going to bed 15 minutes earlier during the few days before the changeover. Those likely to react badly to the lost hour still have two nights to get ready.

Resist the urge to sleep in: Not maintaining a consistent wake-up time disrupts your body’s clock. Rather than linger in bed because it’s “really” only 7 a.m., juice up with a 15-minute afternoon nap later in the day, if you’re still dragging.

Take a time-out: Reserve 15 minutes to meditate or do a series of stretches first thing in the morning. A few minutes of mellow quiet will lower stress.
