How do class teachers teach emotion management skills to children with emotional problems? We are not talking about teacher emotion management in the classroom, but emotional problems management in children.

Today we’ll mainly discuss on strategies for teaching children to handling emotional problems appropriately. In my opinion, the goal as a classroom teacher is not to completely stop all emotional problems since they are hardwired into our brain. The goal is to teach the children to develop self-control and make appropriate choices regarding how to handle these feelings, such as anger, stress and other emotional problems. So we may probably relate to anger management techniques, stress management techniques and emotional regulation disorder, more or less.

What is Emotion and Emotion Management?

Emotion is a piece of double-edge sword, because it can not only make the cleverest people become mad, but also turn the most foolish people to be clever; it is the torch to light the intellect potency, but also the flame to burn oneself.

Then how to try out best to remove the negative function of the emotion, and to develop the active function of emotion?

So we come to emotion management. And what is emotion management?

Emotional management means taking conscious control of your attitude and making it positive. Emotion management refers to the ability to control emotions in the right place and time. It also refers to the ways in which one influences his own feelings and expressions and the ways in which he influences other people’s feelings.

Teach Emotion Management Strategies to Children with Emotional Problems

Generally speaking, children who do not make choices about their own behavior, but instead rely on other children, parents, teachers, or adults to make choices for them, do not learn self-control techniques and other emotion management skills.

These children may follow others’ bad choices and get involved in ridiculing others, taking away others’ things, and not taking responsibility for the consequences of their behavior. If students learn self-control at an early age, then they will feel better about the choices that they do make.

In this case, class teachers and parents can effectively teach their children to manage their emotions by helping them to process, identify and appropriately express their emotions.

Help your child process her feelings, help your child identify what he’s feeling, and help your child appropriately express his feelings. When teaching this to children, you want to explain each area of emotional intelligence management. Then you can discuss examples of each area to help teens or kids identify when this happens in their own life. Luckily, emotional management is absolutely a skill that can be taught. As you discuss EQ with your family or students, apply it on a day to day basis so they can work on the areas they need most help in. Often times, as soon as they are aware that ‘feelings’ are a part of being ‘intelligent’ they are excited and enticed to learn more about themselves and how they interact with those around them.

In this way you can teach children to handle emotional problems effectively.

Teach Children How To Handle Their Emotional Problems

A lot of parents believe that class teachers would teach emotion management strategies to their children as more as possible. Actually, class teachers do little to teach emotional management skills in their class.

Teaching children to have better emotional management would be the cheapest, quickest, and most effective way to address all the various emotional problems, such as anger, stress, and other children mental disorders.

Children guided toward responsible emotion management are more likely to understand and manage their feelings directly and non aggressively and to avoid the stress often accompanying poor emotion management. Teachers can take some of the bumps out of understanding and managing emotion by adopting positive guidance strategies (Eisenberg et al., 1991)

Almost everyone will face some emotional problems. What you will do is to help your children appropriately manage and express their feelings is an important part of my day-to-day parenting. You’ll teach emotion management skills or the so-called emotion regulation skills to your children.

Teach children how to handle their emotional problems. The secret to successful emotion management is to intervene early. Most children use emotional problems, such as anger, because it is their only coping mechanism for daily stress. By identifying problem situations and providing them new techniques for coping, you will keep the emotional management bee from grabbing hold of your child.

How does a classroom teacher teach self management skills to students with learning and behavior problems? Self management skills for students are of a great significance in class because of the lack of guidance, structure and monitoring that happens within a school.

Management-type Self Discipline, and Self Management Skills for Students

Management-type self discipline in class? The scientific class supervision of Wei Shusheng who is regarded as modern Confucius and the China-surprising “OEC” management of Haier have created their miracles.

All know-hows are more or less than same, so is the know-how of class supervision, enterprise management as well as self-management.

Self management is based on self-monitoring, self-evaluation, and positive reinforcement. But how the classroom teacher administers reinforcement for appropriate classroom behavior? And how he teaches the correct use of self-monitoring and self-evaluation procedures?

How to Teach Self Management Skills to Students with Learning and Behavior Problems

Self management skills for students are very important because of the lack of guidance, structure and monitoring that happens within a school. If a student procrastinates heavily and leaves everything to last minute, they will be less successful than a student who works ahead of time, despite the fact that the organized student will not have actually expended much more effort.

As a student, you will have to teach yourself discipline, as your lecturer will not do this for you. A good way of learning discipline is by taking up extra curricular activities that encourage this self-management skill.

Actually self-management strategies make school a lot easier. Here we have a good example for this: As we all knows, a sporting activity such as being on the hockey team, or perhaps a non-team sport such as Karate would be more to your liking. The classes and training for both sports will encourage discipline, which will hopefully condition your body to respond less to the immediate desire for pleasure and comfort, and be driven more by the desire to succeed, or in the case of sport: win.

In formulating a discipline plan, teachers must first clarify personal values in terms of acceptable and unacceptable classroom behavior. By setting classroom rules, defining limits, clarifying responsibilities, and developing a meaningful and functional curriculum, teachers can begin to build a system of discipline that will accentuate the positive behavior of all students. Finally, classroom teachers should contact appropriate administrators and seek information on administrative policies, rules, and regulations governing disciplinary practices for students with disabilities.

learn to understand and teach self management strategies and skills to your students with learning and behavior problems. Such students have difficulty adapting to new learning environment and exhibiting behaviors.

Before you teach self management skills to students with learning and behavior problems, don’t forget asking yourselves these questions:

Are you ready for self management? Are your ready for self-management? And is management ready?

Self-discipline helps cultivating one’s morality, according to some Chinese saying. But how to improve your personal self discipline and self control in your daily life?

How to Improve Self-Discipline

To begin discussing on this topic, you’ll first ask yourself these questions: What is self discipline? Do we need Self discipline or self control? Why do we lack self control or self discipline in the first place? And how do you practice the art of self discipline?

In my previous article, we have learned what self disciplie is and How to Build Self Discipline. Actually in our daily life, we always test our courage and test ourselves.

As the saying goes, “The real brightness is not without night, but is not killed by the night; the real hero is not without weakness, but is never conquered by the weakness.”

Therefore, the greatness of heroes is not that they are free from frightfulness, from beggary or from laziness.

They are deemed as heroes because they can overcome their frightfulness, beggary and laziness.

Developing Self-Discipline Tips: How to Develop Self-Discipline

Improve your personal self-discipline and self control today. Constantly test yourself, by going just beyond your comfort level. If you can run 4 miles yesterday, run 5 miles tomorrow. Likewise, if you save 5% of your income last month, save 7% of your income this month.

Even though preventative exercises, such as setting goals, using moderation, and reflecting can help your child form positive habits and develop self-discipline, he will still make mistakes, and at times choose the wrong thing out of peer pressure, curiosity, or emotion.

Improve Your Personal Self-Discipline Today. learn how to exercise self-discipline after doing something wrong, by bringing ourselves to apologize to the person we offended without being asked, or facing the consequences of our actions by offering to fix or pay for what we broke or lost. try to understand that we are not expecting perfection, as long as we behave responsibly and maturely accepts the consequences of our actions.

Day by day, you’ll find that you can do self discipline and self control. And you’ll be the lords of yourselves.

Mao Zedong Builds Self-Discipline

Self-discipline Quotes: Mao Zedong Teaches How to Build Self-discipline

Mao Zedong (also translated as Mao Tse-Tung, read Mao Zedong Quotes and Mao Zedong Biography): Fate, Behavior and Self-discipline. Now we’ll learn a simple but effective self mastery exercise from Mao Zedong.

It is known that Mr. Mao Zedong is addicted to smoking, but during the decade negotiations between him and Chiang Kai-Shek (also translated as Jiang Jieshi), Mr. Mao didn’t have any smoke.

“Mao Zedong is a person to whom we must be careful. I heard he smokes about one tin (50 pieces) of cigarette every day, but he didn’t have any smoke when he known I don’t like smoke.”" Chiang Kai-Shek (also translated as Jiang Jieshi) said afterward.

From this we can see that Chiang Kai-Shek (also translated as Jiang Jieshi) didn’t compliment Mr. Mao’s intellect, eloquence or courage, but admire Mr. Mao’s high skills of self-discipline.

What is self-discipline? How can you define self-discipline?

Discipline means submitting to an external authority. Self, meaning you do the whole masochistic pattern in the comfort of your own tortured psyche.

Self-discipline is self-control and self-restraint. Self-discipline is self-reliance and independence. Avoid the whole mess, and be nice to yourself.

Self-Discipline is courage. To achieve self discipline we must be continually gaining more and more control of ourselves, and Self-Control requires Self Discipline.

Practically speaking, how can a person develop self-discipline in his or her life?

OK now, have you ever learned how to build self-discipline from Mao Zedong? What alternatives do you have to using self discipline?

In my previous article titled Measures to Improve Cooperative Learning Strategies in Teaching, we talked about the common teaching methods in China. Today, we are discussing on how to make a balance among cooperative, competitive, and individualistic learning.

Balance between Cooperative Learning and Competitive Learning

There are three types of goal structures available to teachers during China’s instruction: cooperative, competitive, and individualistic. The traditional competitive structure has dominated in Chinese education. The type of goal structure used affects interaction among students and teachers and ultimately affects learning.

“The expectation to be praised and be respected confirmedly exists in human being’s nature. If the expectation is lost, there is no possibility for human’s cooperation,” Einstein once said.

It is very important to learn the skills to praise and respect others. When a boss who is good at cooperation asks his/her people to come to his/her office, the boss never chooses these words, “come to my office,” but says, “I will wait for you in my office!”

Research is reviewed on the effects of various goal structures on a series of cognitive and affective educational outcomes.

You should make a balance among cooperative, competitive, and individualistic learning. Students should learn cooperatively, and engage cognitively, physically, emotionally and psychologically in constructing their own knowledge, which is important in changing the passive and impersonal character of our classrooms.

More importantly, when students, however diverse, work together on cooperative tasks in an atmosphere of cooperative civility where they contribute their fair share, they grow to like and respect one another. This is a vital ingredient of students’ success in their respective future careers in society. (Y.K. Ip 2003)

The most significant objective for students should be to learn how to construct and maintain positive social relationships in all types of situations. The conditions under which competitive and individualistic structures can be used productively are stated, with guidelines for the teacher’s role in cooperative instruction. (Johnson, e.t., 1998).

How to improve cooperative learning strategies? This is a question that my collegues and I always want to answer.

Actually we’re discussing on teaching and learning methods. In our teaching and learning, we always make a choice or choices. Learning Together and/or Alone?

This article presents an overview of cooperative learning, details the uses for cooperative learning, integrates cooperative learning with competitive and individualistic learning, and suggests techniques for managing cooperative learning.

“If there is know-how for success, the know-how is to know other people’s stand, which means that we must have the skills to think about different things on the stands both of ourselves and others’,” the automobile king Ford said.

Similarly, if there is know-how for cooperation, then the know-how is to understand other people’s benefit, which means we must have the skills to deal with different profitable relations on the stands both of ourselves and others’.

In my future articles, we shall talk about how to improve cooperative learning strategies, and how to make a Balance between competitive and cooperative learning strategies.

Have you every asked yourself why, what and how to learn?
Why Do You Need Innovative Thinking in Your Learning?

It defines particular change as the whole revolution of learning.

But for real revolution of learning, one has to make systematic thinking and design and make why to study, what to study and how to study systematically.

So why do you need systematic thinking in your learning?

Mao Tse-Tung said, “There are 20 questions. If a student answers well ten of them, with creative ideas, he may be given 100 scores.
