In practice, the Chinese traditional weapons have mtipersonnel power only in close combat or within the iistance of about three meters. If you stand more than :hree meters away, it is hard to get close enough to your opponent to gain victory. Hidden Weapons in Modern Society

Hidden Weapons: In this category we have basically three types of hidden weapons; shurikens (throwing stars or ninja stars), collapsible batons and throwing knives. There’s actually more in our catalog of weapons of easily concealable weapons and they may be found in other categories. For example steel ribbed fans and throwing spikes (Bo-Shuriken) may be found under miscellaneous. A flying weight and flying dart considered a weapon that is easily hidden will be found under flexible weapons. Under fantasy weapons you can find a writing pen with a hidden knife. A combat steel fly dart (special Wing Lam design) is in the new weapons category. Please browse through all the weapons categories and you’ll probably find what you are looking for.

Shuriken (lit: “hand hidden blade”) is a traditional Japanese concealed weapon that was used for throwing, and sometimes stabbing. Shuriken were mainly a supplemental weapon to the more commonly used katana (sword) or yari (spear) in a warrior’s arsenal, though they often played a pivotal tactical role in battle. The art of wielding the shuriken is known as shuriken-jutsu, and was mainly taught as a minor, or more correctly, a secret part of the martial arts curriculum of many famous schools, such as Yagyu Ryu, Katori Shinto Ryu, Itto Ryu, Kukishin Ryu, and Togakure Ryu. They were also used for a wide variety of other uses, such being embedded in the ground so as to cause pain to those who stepped on them, or to have a fuse wrapped around the points of the blade, to be lit and thrown in order to cause fire, or to be used as a handheld striking weapon when used in close quarters combat with an opponent.
An expandable baton or telescopic baton or telescope baton is an intermediate-force weapon often carried by law enforcement and security professionals, used to gain control over violent subjects. The expandable baton typically comprises a cylindrical shaft that contains telescoping metal pieces that lock into each other when expanded, and a solid metal tip at the end of the extended shaft. When swung, the extended baton can cause substantial damage because of the high kinetic energy imparted by its solid metal tip upon striking a surface.

There’s quite a culture out there of knife throwers. Many clubs, meetings and competitions are available. Information can be found at various websites and newsletters. There’s even a suggested running combat knife course that includes obstacles like; Throw at a chest-high target while vaulting a horizontal obstacle approximately three and one-half feet above the ground, Throw at a chest-high target while leaning through a window-sized opening. The feet must be on one side of the opening, the throwing shoulder on the other, Throw at a chest-high target while maneuvering under a horizontal bar approximately three and one-half feet above the ground and more. Not only can you develop weapon skills but it can be a lot of fun.

Throwing knives used are almost always one-piece, rather than the traditional knives that have a handle manufactured separately from the blade and attached later. Additionally, some throwing knives are double-edged, and could be used as fighting knives if necessary. The art of knife throwing is easy to master with practice. Fictional depictions such as movies typically portray thrown knives as traveling in a straight line from the thrower to the target, the point of the knife always forward. This depiction is unrealistic, for unless the knife is fired, rather than thrown, it develops a rotation as it flies, making it difficult to predict whether the point or the handle will be facing toward the target when it strikes. Figuring these variables into calculations requires a good sense of distance and the ability to change the number of spins the knife undergoes before striking. These are skills that can be developed only after much practice.
